The Crossroads of History
By Elinor Montgomery
The cross marks the four corners of history, where the Way meets the
broad road. The tribal nations of Israel go down into the center of the
cross, while the gentile nations go up to it. The spiritual nations of
Israel cross through and go up from the cross along the Way while, at
the same time, the gentile nations cross through and go down from it on
the broad road. It is like moving along the arms of the letter ‘X’,
with Jesus at its core, as the point through which all mankind must
travel to get to the other side. It is here that one passes from the
temporal, natural world to the spiritual kingdom, where he will spend
an eternity.
What man chooses to do with the stumbling block of the cross will
determine his destiny, whether he will dwell with the Lord God in the
kingdom of heaven on earth, or whether he will go to hell, where he
will spend an eternity apart from Him. One has to make the choice
between good and evil. Satan offered the lie in the garden of creation
that claimed man might know both good and evil and still live. God told
us the truth that we cannot go there, where the underpinning of the lie
is that evil can coexist with the truth without resulting in death.
Should we choose disobedience to His Word, we are given the promise
from God that we will surely die. And the prophetic truth of the Word
of God came to pass. Adam did die and all men, who were to follow him,
were doomed to the same fate of death, were it not for a crossroads in
history that changed everything forever.

Why did Sarah birth the child of inheritance so late in life?
- Why did Jacob have two wives and two companies, when he crossed over the Jordan?
- Why did Joseph give a serving of food to Benjamin that was five times the size of the servings given to his other brothers?
- Why did Joseph place his silver cup in the sack of Benjamin as opposed to placing it in the sack of any of his other brothers?
